Our schedule is open for Friday afternoon beginning right after lunch through the rest of the day.  For the evening meal that day there are two options:

1. Eat in the dining hall as usual, or
2. Sign up for a “sack lunch” to take along.

Switzerland as it used to be. More than one hundred century-old buildings from all over Switzerland, 250 farmyard animals, traditional, old-time gardens and fields, demonstrations of local crafts and many special events create a vivid impression of rural life in days gone by. Ballenberg is indeed unique.

Easy Hike: From Iseltwald (on Lake Brienze) to Giessbach Falls. This is an easy, pretty hike along the water's edge. You can explore around the Falls, hike up to the first bridge over the Falls, etc. You can catch a boat to Brienze or boat back to Iseltwald, or hike back. It is about 1 1/2 miles. For those using a baby stroller, there is a suitable path just up the hill. Friends have said, "This is the little peninsula town where you should ignore the highway signs for parking and go ahead and drive down the hill to the large parking lot where you can put money in the meter for 6 or more hours."

Both Thun on Lake Thun and Brienz on Lake Brienz are pretty towns within easy driving time (30-45 minutes). Both have lakeside walking and interesting shops. Thun is larger and closer. www.interlakentourism.ch and www.thunersee.ch.
