Special Diets

We know that some of you will require "special diets" because of various food allergies and other medical needs. If requested ahead of time, these can be made available for an additional cost of 5 to 8 Swiss francs per meal. The cost varies depending on the complexity of the diet. If you require a "special diet", it is VERY important that you do the following:

Send me an e-mail that lists ALL the necessary details that the Kitchen Staff will need to know in order to provide meals that fit your dietary restrictions.

Please note: (this is different from past years) I MUST send the school a list with all these details AHEAD of time. If you don't send me your diet details - I will not be able to request your special diet and there will be NO guarantee that you will be able to request special meals upon arrival.

Dates of the Conference

August 10-16

We will be at the registration table (in the main building closest to the road) between 2:00 and 5:30 on Tuesday afternoon, August 10.

Dinner will be served to the teens at 5:00 and to the rest of the group at 6:15. We hope that you can all arrive before dinner time, but if for some reason you are unable to arrive by the meal time, please let Deb know approximately what time you will be arriving.

The conference ends with breakfast on Aug. 16

The Swiss Transfer Ticket is probably the least expensive

Car Rental

For a family of 4 or more, car rental from one of the above airports may be more cost effective than train tickets.

Swiss Outlets

There are some Swiss outlet plug adapters available from the conference center but their supply is very limited. If you have some already, please bring your own. The Swiss plugs are 6 sided with 3 round prongs. Some two-pronged Continental European plugs will work in the sockets but they will not be grounded (earthed), and they might fit loosely. Replacement plugs are available in Interlaken.

Extra Days

If you wish to stay on after the conference, you should contact the school directly.

Write to Tobias Girsberger at to make these arrangements. Let him know that you are with Avant and he can inform you of the cost. Be prepared to pay for your extra days when you arrive on August 10.
